The Ocean Township Historical Museum, located in the Eden Woolley House in front of the Ocean Township Library at 703 Deal Road in Ocean, is hosting an Outdoor Antique and Flea Market, 9 to 3, Sunday, October 8 (rain date October 9).  The event takes place on the Museum grounds and adjacent parkland—appropriately enough, in the shadow of the historic tower the museum is working to save.

The market organizers are now accepting applications from vendors and organizations or individuals offering antiques, arts and crafts, and vintage, re-purposed, home décor, and flea market items.  The fee for a 10’x10’ space is $35 for merchandise vendors.  Deadline for applications is September 30.   Vendor applications can be downloaded from the website oceanmuseum.com.

The museum association has an impressive track record for saving structures.  It rescued the 18th century (in its oldest part) Eden Woolley House, moved from the corner of Route 35 and Deal Road, restored, and opened to the public in 2009.  Now, they’ve set their sights on saving the historic tower behind the Woolley House.  The tower was built in the early 20th century to hide a water tank that supplied the farm on which it stood.  Its iconic façade, reminiscent of a New England lighthouse, has become a local landmark.  To date, the structure has been stabilized and painted. Work remains to complete the renovation and open the tower to the public as an adjunct to the museum.

Contact the Museum 732-531-2136 or OceanMuseum@yahoo.com) or call Margo Simpson at 732-996-4366 to learn more.

TOHM reserves the right to limit the number and types of vendors.
